Church dinner

HEBRON — The Hebron Community Baptist Church will offer its boiled ham dinner from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, at the church on Station Road. The menu will include ham, carrots, onions, beets, cabbage, turnip, homemade pies, coffee, milk and tea.  Price is $7.

A hymn sing of seasonal tunes will follow in the church. For more information, call Marion Hall at 966-2663.

Turkey dinner

OTISFIELD — Students in Otisfield Community School will sing songs of the season at the school during the homemade turkey dinner with all the fixings from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11. Tickets are $5 for adults; $4, seniors; children 12 and under, $3; under 3, free. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the school or at the door.

The tree lighting with Santa at Otisfield Town Office on Route 121 will be held at 7 p.m. Inside the town office there will be baked goods and visits with Santa and friends. Anyone willing to donate baked goods can drop them at the town office on Friday, Dec. 10, during business hours.

VFW breakfast

HARRISON — VFW Post 9328, Waterford Road, will host its monthly public breakfast from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 12. It includes scrambled eggs, french toast, homefries, pancakes, biscuits w/country gravy, bacon, sausage, sweet bread,  fruit cup, OJ, coffee, tea and cocoa. Donations will be appreciated.

Bingo closing

SOUTH PARIS — The American Legion Post 72, Church Street, will close the bingo games at the end of December. Due to the economy and the decline in attendance, it is no longer able to sustain the bingo program.

Christmas cantata

WEST PARIS — A Christmas cantata, “Emmanuel,” will be presented by the community choir at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 19, at the West Paris Baptist Church. Refreshments will be available downstairs afterward.

The church will present its annual Christmas Eve Service at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 24.

Churches prepare

NORWAY — The First Universalist churches of Norway and West Paris, preparing for the religious holidays of light celebrated at this time of year, will focus Sunday, Dec. 12, on the Liberal Christan theology of the Virgin Birth. The Rev. Richard Beal will preach on “What Do We Make of the Virgin Birth” at both services. Special music will be presented.

The service at West Paris, 128 Main St.,  will be at 9 a.m. and the service at Norway, 479 Main St.,  will begin at 11 a.m. Childcare is available and people of all religious traditions are welcome.
