FARMINGTON — As part of the annual awards given out this year from the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce, recipients also received a flag, flown over the nation’s capitol in their honor, courtesy of U.S. Sen. Susan Collins. Recently, Carlene Tremblay, Collins’ office representative, and Lorna Nichols, Chamber executive director, traveled throughout Franklin County to meet each award winner and personally present their flag, along with a certificate.
Receiving flags and awards were Tom Whalen and Sue Atwood of Wilson Lake Inn for the small business category; Cameron Lorrain of Poland Spring Water Co. in Kingfield for the large business category; Shannon Smith of FMH Auxiliary for the nonprofit category; and Stan Howard of Salem who received the Ben Franklin Volunteer of the Year award.
