LEWISTON — Steve and Elaine Roop, owners of the Roopers stores, are opening a new store today, Dec. 10, at 1420 Lisbon St.

“I have been looking at this location for years, but it was always occupied when I was ready to expand,” Steve Roop said. “This time I wasn’t ready to expand, but this site became available and I moved on it.”

Renovations began in November with a deadline for the store to open the second week in December. The stores are known for their large selection of beverages, tobacco products and bottle redemption services.

While the store — located just south of the turnpike exchange on Lisbon Street — opens Friday, the sale of liquor will begin in the months to come, the Roops said. In addition, a Subway Sandwich Shop will soon open at the location.
