FARMINGTON — A Turner man was arrested late Friday night on charges of gross sexual assault and aggravated assault after he allegedly pulled a knife on a woman at her home in Carthage.

Gilbert Michaud, 40, of 2739 Auburn Road met the woman at a bar in Lewiston on Friday night and was invited to her home in Carthage, Maine State Police Lt. Don Pomelow said Monday.

At the woman’s home, Michaud allegedly pulled a large knife, cut her throat “a little,” sexually assaulted her and then left in his vehicle, state police said.

The woman refused medical attention but did have a visible injury on her throat, according to the police report.

State police received the call at 11:23 p.m. Friday.

Trooper Scott Dalton later went to Michaud’s home in Turner and arrested him on the charge, Pomelow said. He was taken to Franklin County Detention Center where he posted $10,000 cash bail and was released on Saturday.

Michaud has a court date scheduled for Feb. 25, 2011.
