WILTON — The town will be full of holiday activity Friday.
There will be a Holiday Sing at the monument downtown at 5:15 p.m., led by Lindsey Reinstein, music teacher at Academy Hill School. After the sing, there will be refreshments at the Wilton Farm and Home Museum.
Everyone is welcome to bring flashlights and join in the caroling.
Extra parking is available in the lot on High Street and the lot behind the Bass-Wilson Building.
A Winter Wonderland, sponsored by The Wilton Group, leads up to Friday’s activities. Lighted trees are on the green for public view along Wilson Stream (across from Wilton Hardware) until Saturday, Dec. 18. Then the trees and a holiday gift bag of ornaments will be delivered by members of the Wilton Lions Club to Wilton families.
Along with the trees, 12 lighted memory wreaths have been hung on lampposts downtown, and window boxes up and down Main Street have been decorated with boughs by Tyngtown Club members. The window boxes sport wreaths donated by Wilton residents and decorated with a bright red bow, adding color to Wilton’s Winter Wonderland. All wreaths were purchased from the local Boy Scout troop.
The trees were purchased from Rocky Hill Landscaping and the following businesses donated them for the event: The Comfort Inn, The Tractor Supply Co., Damon Photography, Calzolaio Pasta Co., Cousineau Inc., Key Bank, Care and Comfort, Work First, Community Concepts, Franklin Savings Bank, Baker’s Market Café, Rocky Hill Landscaping, and by Danielle Savage, whose tree will go to Trevor Collins, 12, who is being treated for bone cancer.
Everyone is invited to help decorate Trevor’s tree. Bring an ornament to put on the tree on Dec. 17 at 4:30. A picture of the lit and decorated tree and all the ornaments will be sent to Trevor. If you are unable to attend the night of decorating, you can leave your ornament for Trevor at Baker’s Market Café.
Memory wreaths were purchased by: Members of the Tyngtown Club for “members who have passed before us”; Susan Atwood in memory of the Helen G. Atwood, Roy F. Atwood, Roy F. Atwood Jr., and William S. Atwood; David Olson and Paula Widmer in memory of Ziggy and Sophie, their Afghan hounds; Sharon Rainey and Gloria Hall in memory of their brother Mark Foster; Gregg Kelleher and Gail Merchant in memory of Thelma and Robert “Rabbit” Woods; Jeanne Lambert in memory of parents, Cleo and Carl Pomeroy; Paul and Valerie Soucie in memory of their daughter, Carole Anne Soucie.
