LEWISTON — The YWCA has a full schedule of swim lessons that will start the week of Jan. 1. Registration is open now.
Water babies, puddle jumpers and parent and tot classes are available for children age 6 through 35 months. These are water adjustment classes. Parents accompany their child in the water. YWCA staff will help parents select the appropriate class and there are many time slots during the week.
Water Explorers is for children age 2 to 6 who are afraid of being in the water and helps them conquer this fear. Parents accompany their child in the water.
Aquatots, Guppies, Jellyfish, Polliwog and Tadpole classes are designed to help children from ages 3 to 15 learn and develop the skills to become proficient swimmers. Classes are paced for the age and ability level of each child, and YWCA staff will help parents decide on the most appropriate level for their child.
American Red Cross water safety classes for stroke development, stroke refinement and fitness are also offered to youth.

Adult lesson are available for adults (15 and older) who have never had swimming lesson or are still working on beginner strokes.
