LIVERMORE FALLS — William “Bill” L. Chabot, 84, a resident of Foundry Road, Livermore Falls, died early Friday, Dec. 17, at his daughter’s home surrounded by his family.
He was born Feb. 21, 1926, in Rumford, the son of Joseph William Chabot and Valeda (Gilbert) Chabot. Bill attended St. Rose of Lima School in Jay and Livermore Falls High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and Korea in the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater.
Bill was predeceased by five wives, Shirley Savage, Peg Smith, Helen Austin, Barbara Knox and Vickie Savano.
On Feb. 15, 2003, he married Lorette (Gosselin) Fournier. Bill worked at Livermore Shoe and later became a restaurant entrepreneur. Bill owned and operated Bill’s Lobster House, Town Squire, and the In Town in Livermore Falls, Silver Dollar in Rumford and Escargot in Lewiston.
Bill was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay. He was a lifetime member of the Frank L. Mitchell VFW Post 3335 and AmVets Post 33 in Jay, he was a former commander of the American Legion George Bunton Post 10 in Livermore Falls; he was also a member of the Elks Club in Florida.
Bill enjoyed hunting, camping and time spent with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Lorette Chabot, his daughter, Gail Cameron and her husband, Jim, his son, Joseph “Joey” Chabot and his sister, Diana Richard, all of Livermore Falls; stepchildren, Marlene Walker and her husband, Scott, Patricia Donald and her husband, James, all of Jay, Louise Chandler and her husband, John, David Fournier and his wife, Robin, all of Wilton and Mike Fournier of Maryland; grandchildren, Will and Ashley Chabot and Kelly Dyer; 13 stepgrandchildren; great-grandchildren, Hailei and Gabriel Chabot; and 18 stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was also predeceased by his sister, Dot Galuzza; brothers, Joseph and Fred Chabot; and his granddaughter, Rebecca Jo Chabot Clavet.
