PORTLAND — Elizabeth K. Sheppard has been hired by The Cedars as director of development, according to Kathryn Callnan, president and CEO of the non-for-profit retirement community.

Sheppard will plan and direct initiatives in annual and capital fundraising and will oversee the work of The Cedars Auxiliary.

She has worked in higher education administration for three decades. A native of Orono, she received a bachelor’s degree from Smith College. She now resides in Auburn.

The Cedars, located at 630 Ocean Ave., offers residential options for senior citizens, including independent living, assisted living, rehabilitation services and long-term skilled care.
