BETHEL — Telstar held off a late rally from Livermore Falls to hold on to a 52-50 victory in an MVC boys’ basketball game played Monday.

Trailing 23-22 at halftime, Telstar outscored the Andies 18-14 to take a 40-37 lead heading into the final quarter. After building up an 11-point lead with less than two minutes remaining, Livermore Falls (2-2) climbed within one point before falling short to the Rebels (4-0).

Danny Whitney led Telstar with 15 points, including a pair of 3-pointers. Junior forward Corey Howard contributed with 13 points in the victory.

Mike Armstrong led the Andies with 15 points and Mike Castonguay added 14 points. Hunter Brett also had 12 points.

Elan 49, Buckfield 24

BUCKFIELD — Jack Peters poured in a game high 18 points to help lead Elan to a 49-24 triumph over Buckfield.

The Buccaneers (4-0) built a 29-15 haltime lead and continued it’s defensive pressure in the second half, limiting the Bucks (1-3) to only nine points.

Malik Nunn added 13 points for Elan, while Steve Kelly added 10 points including a pair of 3-pointers. Kasey Robertson led Buckfield with 10 points.

Mountain Valley 82, Carrabec 16

NORTH ANSON — Mounain Valley jumped out to a 30-2 lead after one quarter en route to a 82-16 drudging of Carrabec in an MVC boys’ game.

The Falcons (4-0) sank 13 3-pointers, including four from sophomore guard Jacob Theriault, who finished with 14 points.

Cam Kaubris led all scorers with 19 points, including a pair of 3-point baskets. Derek Volkernick chipped in with 11 points.

Dylan Pierce finished with 12 points for the Cobras (0-4).

Jay 80, Mt. Abram 45

SALEM — The Jay Tigers jumped out to 31-5 lead after the first quarter and crusied to a 80-45 victory over Mt. Abram in boys’ basketball hoops action.

Senior center Kyle Storer dumped in a game-high 27 points for the Tigers (2-2). Zach Bonnevie chipped in with 14 points, including a pair of 3-pointers. Tyler Hupper led the Roadrunners (0-4) with 18 points.

Boys’ hockey

St. Dom’s 4, Brunswick 1

BRUNSWICK — St. Dom’s scored twice within a minute in the 3rd period to open up a 2-1 game to down Brunswick 4-1 in a boys’ hockey match.

After Brunswick’s Clay Parent cut the two-goal lead in half, almost six minutes into the 3rd period, Dakota Keene scored his second goal of the game just 20 seconds later for the Saints.

Al Parker added an unassisted goal less than a minute latern to seal the victory for St. Dom’s (3-0). Parker also had a pair of assists in the contest. Ryan Lussier scored the other goal for the Saints.

Austin Christopher turned away eight Brunswick (0-3) shots in net for St. Dom’s. Dragons goalie Jason Blier stopped 28 of the 32 shots he faced.

Girls’ basketball

Georges Valley 39, Winthrop 23

THOMASTON — Georges Valley outscored Winthrop 18-5 in the 3rd quarter to open up a two point game en route to a 39-23 win in girls’ MVC basketball action.

Jill Bradbury scored six of her seven points in the third quarter to help pace the Buccaneers (2-2).

Jessica Veilleux had a game-high 16 points and seven rebounds to lead all scorers. Kennedy Grover had a solid game for victors with eight points, six rebounds, and five assists.

Sasha Flaherty led the Ramblers with eight points.

Girls’ hockey

Leavitt/Edward Little 3, Brunswick 2

BRUNSWICK — Leavitt/Edward Little scored three times in the third period after trailing by two to edge Brunswick 3-2 in girls’ hockey.

Shelby Russell put Leavitt/Edward Little on the board first on an assist by Taylor Landry and Kayla Royer. Landry then tied the score on another assist by Royer.

Landry netted the game winner breaking the 2-2 tie for their third victory of the season.

Brianna Stanley was in net for Leavitt/Edward Little (3-2-1) in the victory.
