MEXICO — Anthony Gallant, 22, of Duguay Lane, Mexico, was charged with several violations Tuesday morning as the result of a motor vehicle accident on Dec. 2.
Mexico police Sgt. Roy Hodsdon said he arrested Gallant on a probation violation that stemmed from a charge of operating under the influence during the two-vehicle accident on the River Road. Gallant was also given a summons on a charge of failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle because he was texting.
Hodsdon said the OUI charge was Gallant’s second offense.
Gallant was taken to Oxford County jail where he will remain until he can go before a judge, who will set bail. A court date on the OUI charge was set for April 5, 2011, at Rumford District Court.
A utility pole was severed, and vehicles driven by Gallant and a Phippsburg resident sustained $6,000 damage.
