TURNER – The Turner Public Library and Museum and Historical Association will hold open houses from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, as part of the seventh annual Winter Festival in the Leavitt Institute Building, Route 117.
Highlights of the day will include caroling by the “Hornets in Harmony” choir of Leavitt Area High School, dressed in full Charles Dickens style costumes, from 1 to 1:30; Santa Claus, distributing gifts and Mrs. Claus, reading at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. in the library.
Final bidding and winner announcements will be given for the library’s silent auction as well as final raffle ticket sales and winner announcement for the museum’s quilt.
Local crafters will show and sell items in the community room from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; chili, corn chowder and bread will be on sale by the library on the second floor; and free coffee and hot cider from the museum will be available in the kitchen. The museum will also sell historic calendars, baked goods and seasonal floral items.
Weather permitting, a new feature of the festival will be horse-drawn wagon rides on the campus from 1 to 3 p.m.
The festival has become a major fundraising event for the library and museum, which are housed in the historic Leavitt Institute Building, which is fully accessible with an elevator serving all four floors.
