WILTON — Selectmen have decided to move forward with a plan for 2011 roadwork.

With bond money secured, the Road Committee is ready to seek bids in January for spring paving on Orchard, Pond, Lake and McCrillis Roads, Public Works Foreman John Welch told the board Tuesday night.

The plan includes overlay work on some in-town streets and Temple Street. Welch said he hoped to have the bids back by mid to late February.

The goal is to address all town roads under a 10-year plan with the help of $500,000 in bond money.

In other business, the board approved seeking a three-year contract for cemetery maintenance. The current contract has expired, Town Manager Rhonda Irish said. The new contract will include spring and fall cleanups of town cemeteries, mowing and minimal straightening of stones, she said. The Cemetery Committee allots $23,000 to $25,000 for the cemetery maintenance contract.

During her report to the board, Irish previewed two items on the board’s Jan. 4 agenda:

The Ordinance Committee has met four times and has prepared its first parking and traffic ordinance, she said. Committee Chairman Doug Hiltz will attend the meeting to discuss the proposed plan, Irish said.

She asked selectmen to consider taking action in January on the town-owned Primary School on School Street. She intends to provide them with a list of options, including holding an auction and demolishing the building, with related costs. A member of the School Neighborhood Group will attend the Jan. 4 meeting to  report on its work.
