NORWAY — Donald Ernest Cross died Dec. 20, as a result of cancer.
Don was born in Bethel, the son of Edgar and Gladys Bennett Cross. He attended Bethel schools. During World War II, Don served his country for 3 ½ years in the Pacific Theater as an anti-aircraft artillery gunner. Don was a founder of Mt. Abram Ski Area, a trophy winning trap shooter, a skilled fisherman, hunter and trapper. His passion was managing his woodland, increasing its value and supporting wildlife.
Survivors are Jean Cardwell Anton, his longtime partner; his daughter, Wendy; two sisters; a brother; as well as many loving nieces, nephews and adopted family of children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Don was predeceased by his beloved son, Duane; and two brothers.
Arrangements are under the direction of Chandler Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, 45 Main St., South Paris.
