A week from Wednesday, Maine’s minimum wage earners will get their second dime-per-hour raise in as many years. And while business leaders continue to complain, they have not mobilized to seek its repeal.
As of Jan. 1, Maine employers must pay a minimum wage of $3.55 an hour, 20 cents more than the federal standard. Last January, Maine’s minimum wage rose to $3.45 an hour. In 1987, it is scheduled to rise to $3.65 an hour.
