WOODSTOCK — Thomasina C. Poland, 82, of Woodstock, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 22, at her home.
She was born in Sumner on May 27, 1928, the daughter of Lovell N. and Margaret Jacques Chandler. She attended schools in Sumner and Old Orchard Beach. She had been a mill worker at Penley’s Mill of West Paris making clothespins. She was a member of the Woodstock Willing Workers.
She married Vernon Poland on April 12, 1947. She enjoyed taking trips with her daughters, yard saling and mowing her yard. She was well known as “Nanny.”
She is survived by her children, Judith Brown and her husband David of Greenwood, Dennis Poland and his wife Debra of Woodstock, Sandra Monzo of Oxford, Sherry Poland and her partner Dee Beck of Lewiston and Tracy Poland of Woodstock; grandchildren, Tammy Davis, Aaron Bean, Rachel Curtis, Samantha Cheney, Alexis Libby, Brooke Campbell, Kenneth Grover, Jamie Monzo, Tara Monzo, Erika Monzo, Ian Monzo, Jake Poland-Beck, Joseph Poland-Beck, Heath Poland and Brandy Poland-Seames; 12 great-grandchildren and two more on the way in April and July; and a sister, Maxine Camire of Saco. She was predeceased by her husband; a son-in-law, Michael Monzo; and two sisters, Joanne Emond and Jackie Chandler.
