DIXFIELD — A Mexico man escaped injury Tuesday morning when he lost control of his pickup truck on Route 2 and it slammed into a telephone pole, police said.

Justin Archibald, 27, was driving east near the Maine Department of Transportation garage at about 8:40 a.m. when to tried to avoid oncoming traffic, Sgt. Jeff Howe said. Archibald’s 1999 Dodge truck hit the pole and broke it. The truck had $2,500 damage. The pole was valued at between $1,000 and -$1,500, Howe said.
