Hoop shoot

RUMFORD — Rumford Elks Lodge 862 will sponsor its annual free-throw hoop shoot contest on Saturday, Jan. 8, at the Mexico Recreation Center.

Registration will be from 8 to 9 a.m. with the shoot-off from 9 a.m. to the finish at about 11 a.m.

There will be first and second place in ages 8 and 9, 10 and 11 and 12 and 13 for boys and girls.

Parents will need to bring birth certificates.

Slippery Sliders

ROXBURY — The Roxbury Slippery Sliders snowmobile club will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, at the home of Sylvia Touchette.

Blessing of sleds

MEXICO — The 14th annual “Blessing of the Sleds” will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, at the Mountain Valley Middle School, just off snowmobile trail ITS 82. The blessing will be at noon. Grilled sausages, burgers, hot dogs, French fries and drinks will be available. Raffle winners will be drawn and sweatshirts will be on sale.

Snow dance

RUMFORD — A “Think Snow” dance will be held from 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday, Jan. 15, at the Rumford Legion Hall. Music will be provided by the Hooligans. Raffle prizes, including three $500 tickets, will be drawn. Tickets are available from the Legions in Dixfield, Mexico, Peru and Rumford. For more information, call 562-4690.
