SACO (AP) — Police say they’ve charged a 23-year-old man for allegedly evading tolls on the Maine Turnpike by driving across a motel property to avoid a toll plaza.

Maine State Police say 23-year-old Mathieu Bosse of Saco is charged with theft and driving to endanger.

Trooper Steven Stubbs said Bosse has been seen exiting the turnpike onto an access road that leads to a Ramada Inn in Saco. From there, Bosse is accused of driving down a hotel walkway and squeezing his car between a light fixture and a large rock to get onto city streets — just to avoid paying a $1 toll.

The Maine Turnpike Authority says Bosse owes more than $100 in tolls.
