WINTHROP — Local author Ben Thomas has written a second young adult adventure thriller titled “Scuba Gold,” set in Yarmouth and the islands of Casco Bay.

Matt Banner, on the run from the Florida Law, ends up in Maine leading a team of five divers mapping the bottom of Casco Bay outside Portland. Mystery and death come swiftly after one of the divers surfaces with a huge gold and emerald pendant. In a race to clear his name, Banner runs into Lee Thomas McCall of Montana.

With McCall making hot tracks on his heart, the two are suddenly swept up in a dash for the treasure and on the run for their lives. McCall is kidnapped. Can Banner race through a Class I hurricane to save her? Can she save herself?

Thomas has written four books on white water canoeing and exploring in Maine as well as articles for “Field and Stream” and other national publications. His first young adult book about adventure in Maine was “Code Breaker,” published in 2009.
