LISBON — Councilors have voted to waive pending property tax foreclosures on 16 mobile homes, giving owners more time to pay the liens instead of losing their homes.

Delinquent taxes and interest on the homes, all located in parks, totals $4,705, Tax Collector Kathaleen Bailey said.

Councilors also voted Wednesday to demolish the deteriorated gazebo near the former Lisbon Elementary School, which now houses the superintendent’s office. The gazebo was converted from the bell tower of an old church. It is badly deteriorated and beyond repair, councilors were told.

On Saturday, Jan. 22, the Town Council will visit town facilities, including the Police Department, the Public Works building, fire stations and other sites for an orientation.

Townspeople are being urged to participate in a 2011-12 budget survey that is under way. It may be found on the town’s website at www.lisbonme.org or picked up at the Town Office.

Councilors held closed-door meetings to discuss a personnel matter and to consult with legal counsel. No votes were taken in open session.

This week’s meeting was moved from the usual first Tuesday of the month due to the recall election.
