The Maine Renegades Squirt hockey team defeated Southern Maine Breakers, 3-1, on Friday.
Defensive leaders Hunter Dupuis, Connor Dupuis, Caden Smith and Owen Cox helped goalie Jacob Smith face only 11 shots on net.
Jack St. Pierre got the Renegades on the scoreboard early in the game with Tyler Marcoux assisting. Later in the first period, Reed Hopkins scored his first of two goals of the game, not letting the Breakers’ goaltender freeze the puck in time.
The Breakers notched their lone goal late in the second period, and the score remained 2-1 until midway through the third.
Ryan Blouin moved the puck up through the neutral zone to an open Hopkins, who slid the puck over to Cam Niven. After Niven rifled the puck on net, Hopkins buried the rebound to seal the win.
Hard Hat Players of the game were Niven and Connor Dupuis.
The Renegades ares back in action this weekend, taking on the Maine Hurricanes.
