WELD — Nomination papers are available for a few town and school elected positions. The papers are due back at the town office on Tuesday, Jan. 18.
Elections will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 4, with the town meeting beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 5, at the town hall.
A three-year term for assessor, selectman and overseer of the poor, currently held by Laurie Pratt is up for election. Pratt is not seeking re-election, Town Clerk Carol Cochran said.
Former Selectman Wayne DuBois has taken papers out for the position, she said.
A five-year Planning Board position, currently held by Margot Joly, is also up for election. Joly plans to seek re-election, Cochran said.
A Regional School Unit 9 director’s term is also up for election. The three-year term would begin on July 1.
Director Paul Druan is not running again, she said.
Cochran who has been elected for a one-year town clerk position for more than 30 years, said she is seeking another term.
She is also will run for the tax collector position. She has held that position for 35 years.
The town is also in need of volunteers to serve one, three-year term on the Planning Board and one, three-year term on the Board of Appeals, Cochran said. Selectmen appoint members to the two panels.
