In a step he describes as preparation for retirement, Reginald LaVerdiere has announced that he will step down as president of LaVerdiere’s Super Drug Stores on Feb. 1.

LaVerdiere will continue to be fully involved with the business, however, in a modified role until 1988 when he will retire. At that time, he will have completed 50 years with the firm which his father, Evariste LaVerdiere, began with a news stand in Waterville in 1922.
