BRUNSWICK, Maine (AP) — The closing of the Brunswick Naval Air Station’s commissary and base exchange has been postponed.

The stores were scheduled to close March 19, 2011, a few months before the base is closed altogether. But the National Defense Authorization Act signed by President Barack Obama requires the secretary of defense to decide whether the stores should continue operations.

Capt. Will Fitzgerald, the base’s commanding officer, said he’s asked operators of both low-cost stores to continue to provide services and products, pending a final determination.
