100 years ago,1911

A party of 12 local people enjoyed a delightful sleigh ride this week, going to Poland Spring and then to Mechanic Falls. At the Snell farmhouse a special supper was served and then the return trip home was made. The party included Misses Ella Bibber, M. Gagnon, Marie Blanchard, Vesta Morey, Ella Corey and Clara Doloff and Misters S. M. Harvey, Walter Crocker, Charles Smith, Steve Davis, R. Harvey and Amos Barrell.

50 years ago, 1961

Three days of programs and information for area farmers are contained in the 20th annual Agricultural, Trades Show which gets under way at 8 o’clock this morning at Lewiston’s Memorial Armory.

Among today’s events are a hay show and a high school and 4-H apple judging contest. Most of the day’s activities will be conducted by the Maine Dairymen’s Association and the Maine Vegetable Growers Association.

25 years ago, 1986

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. — Rodney Gendron, 12, of Lewiston (Maine) was one of 90 athletes who recently participated in the annual U.S. Junior Men’s National Gymnastics testing session that ended Jan. 5 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center. Gendron placed sixth in the all-around national team testing at the center during the Miller High Life-sponsored camp.
