LEWISTON — Rene J. Grenier, 63, of Lewiston, passed away peacefully on Jan. 14, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Lewiston, Jan. 23, 1947, the son of Thomas and Bernadette Goulet Grenier. After graduating from Lewiston High School in 1965, he joined the U.S. Army, where he served his country in Vietnam.
He worked for Hahnel Bros Inc. for several years as a roofer. Later on he would split his time between Maine and Florida, where he worked in construction and security.
He was an avid reader, as well as sports enthusiast. He was a loyal Red Sox and Patriots fan. He was a kind and generous man who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his six brothers, Dr. Rodolphe of Lewiston, Raymond and his wife, Sonia, of Wisconsin, John and his wife, Monique, Pierre, Bernard and his wife, Marilyn and Paul and his wife, Anita, all of Lewiston; seven sisters, Jeanine Beaupre, Claudette Guilmette and her husband, Raymond, both of Connecticut, Madeleine Girardin and her husband, Robert, Georgette Clavet, Ginette Gladu and her husband, Robert, all of Lewiston, Marthe Stokowski and her husband, Stanley and Joanne Grenier, both of California; and 64 nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; sister, Bernadette; and brothers, Earl, Thomas and Gerald. A Catholic memorial Mass will be announced at a later date.
