LEWISTON — The Lewiston Chiefs picked up a win while dropping two tough contests in recent midget hockey competition.

The Chiefs (2-2) dropped their first contest 5–2 to theHall Dale/Winthrop/Maranacook high school junior varsity team. Nick Gilbert and Eric Soucy each registered a goal and an assist.

In the second game, the Chiefs topped Haverhill, Mass., 5–4. Five different scorers lit the lamp for the Chiefs. Alex Gregoire, Scotty Gagne, Coby Poussard, Frankie Welch and Jared Lapierre each tallied a goal, with Gregoire, Gagne and Lapierre each adding two assists and Welch one. Noah Hutchinson recorded the win in net.

To wrap up the weekend, The Chiefs dropped a heartbreaker 6–4 to Concord, N.H. after leading 4–2 early in the finalstanza. Gagne, Lapierre, Drew Olehowski and Eric Soucy netted goals for Lewiston, with Welch, Luke Olehowski and Cheech Michaud each posting an assist and Gregoire adding two helpers.

The Chiefs skate back into action Jan. 28 against Gardiner JVs, kicking off a stretch of four games in nine days.
