Oxford Hills 41, Morse 39
SOUTH PARIS — Oxford Hills rallied in the fourth quarter to stun previously unbeaten Morse 41-39 in KVAC girls’ basketball action Wednesday.
Oxford Hills (5-7) was down 29-26 entering the fourth but pulled out the upset. Brooke Murch had six points in the final quarter while Dayna Schultz had five, including a 3-pointer.
The Vikings got 11 points from Abbie Eastman and 10 from Schultz. Ashley West and Murch each added eight for the Vikings.
Morse (10-1) was led by Nikoline Ostergaard with 19.
The Vikings opened up a 14-4 lead in the first quarter but watched the Shipbuilders battle back and take the lead with a 19-5 third quarter.
Rangeley 34, Kents Hill 23
RANGELEY — Rangeley used a 12-3 run in the third quarter to pull away from Kents Hills and went on to post a 34-23 win in girls’ basketball action Wednesday.
Chantal Carrier led the Lakers (9-2) with 11 points and eight rebounds, while Taylor Esty added eight points and pulled down 11 rebounds. Sierra Marchacos also contributed with eight points and eight rebounds in a well-balanced attack.
Brittany Sharpe led Kents Hills with 13 points, the only player in double figures.
Hall-Dale 53, St. Dom’s 25
AUBURN — Taylor Massey threw in the game-high 18 points and Wendy Goldman added another 11 as Hall-Dale held St. Dom’s to single-digit scoring for four quarters as the Bulldogs raced off with a 53-25 win in a girls’ basketball game Wednesday.
By halftime, undefeated Hall-Dale (11-0) built a 31-8 lead.
For the Saints (6-5), Allaina Murphy scored 13 points.
Madison 54, Telstar 30
MADISON — Madison jumped out to an eight-point lead in the first frame and cruised to an easy 54-30 victory over Telstar in a MVC girls’ basketball matchup Wednesday.
Kirsten Wood led Madison (6-5) with 18 points, while Lyndsay Weese tallied nine and Sam Bruce added eight.
The Rebels (0-11) were paced by Emma Davis with a solid 13-point effort, while Cheyenne Day chipped in with eight. Madison held a 30-14 advantage at the half and was never challenged.
Buckfield 43, Pine Tree Academy 24
BUCKFIELD — Danielle Patrie ignited a 15-6 run in the second quarter that allowed Buckfield to pull away from Pine Tree Academy and go on to record a 43-24 victory Wednesday evening.
Patrie finished with eight points for the Bucks (2-8), including four in that big second frame. Dakota Warren also contributed for Buckfield with eight points.
Pine Tree was paced by Karen Gentille with a game-high 12 points.
Monmouth 39, Winthrop 36
WINTHROP — Monmouth revved up late in the game for a 15-7 run and escaped with a narrow 39-36 win over Winthrop in more MVC girls’ basketball action Wednesday.
Colby Wilson led the Mustangs (4-7) with eight points, while Kristine Kahl, Kylie Kemp and Sierra Spencer all added six.
The Ramblers (5-6) were paced by Nikki Scott with a game-high 14 points, while Sasha Flaherty added eight.
Waynflete 73, Hebron 50
HEBRON — Martha Veroneau scored 29 points to lead Waynflete to a 73-50 win over Hebron Wednesday.
The Flyers opened a 20-12 lead in the first quarter and opened the lead with a 12-7 advantage in the second. Lydie Stegman added 17 points while Liz Lewis added 12.
Hebron got 12 from Malorie Johnson and nine from Olivia Brown.
Boothbay 40, Lisbon 31
LISBON — Sarah Caron poured in a game-high 19 points Wednesday as Boothbay hustled to a 40-31 victory over Lisbon in another MVC girl’s basketball tilt.
Alexandra Andrews chipped in with nine points for the Seahawks (5-6).
The Greyhounds (3-8) were paced by Denise Thomas with a solid 10-point performance, while Jessica Campbell and Allicyn Fitzgerald each added eight.
Dirigo 57, Carrabec 55
NORTH ANSON — Hannah Knight nailed a shot jumper with just two minutes left in regulation to lift Dirigo to a 57-55 win over Carrabec in MVC girls’ hoops action Wednesday.
Knight finished with 21 points to lead the Cougars, while Kayla Gaudin chipped in with 12 and Alyssa Wade added 11.
The Cobras (4-7) were led by Marisa Murray with 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Jocelyn Jackson tallied 12 and Melissa White added 10.
Girls’ Hockey
NYA 2, Hebron 0
NORTH YARMOUTH — North Yarmouth Academy scored twice in the second period to blank Hebron 2-0 in girls’ hockey action Wednesday.
Megan Fortier and Molly Strabley had the two tallies for NYA. Cardine Boune had an assist.
Mariah Farrell had 21 saves to earn the shutout. Mariah Mosher stopped 20 shots for Hebron.
