LEWISTON — Henry J. Longtin Jr., 85, of Auburn, died on Jan. 20, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

He was born on June 5, 1925, the son of Henri Sr. and Anne Marie (Ruest) Longtin. After school, Henry proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Henry married Yvette Lessard on June 12, 1948.

Among his many interests, he especially enjoyed watching the Red Sox, making puzzles, music, animals and most of all making people laugh. He worked for many years at the Auto Center of Auburn as a parts manager and previously at Bates College and Thomas J. McMahon Elementary School, where he especially enjoyed having fun with the teachers and children.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Yvette (Lessard) Longtin of Auburn; sons, Michael Longtin of Saco and Ronald Longtin of Old Orchard Beach; daughters, Doris Longtin of Scarborough and Rachel Walker and companion, Roger Sorrells, of Poland; grandson, Nicholas Walker and his wife, Jackie, of Waltham, Mass.; sisters, Pauline Longtin and Aline Longtin of Lewiston; brother, Roland Longtin of Rochester, N.Y.; and many nieces and nephews.

Henry was predeceased by his parents; son-in-law, Clifford “Rocky” Walker in 1991; and brother, Ted Longtin in 2004. 

The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Dr. Seth Gordon, Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, St. Mary’s Hospital staff and most of all, the wonderful staff at Schooner Estates Residential Care.
