Free ski night

RUMFORD — A free ski and tubing night will take place from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, at Black Mountain of Maine.

Oxford Federal Credit Union is sponsoring the night. There will be give-aways, prizes and a chance in the OFCU Money Booth.

And for the youngest savers who choose to keep warm inside, Monty Moose will be making an appearance for story time.

Benefit event

RUMFORD — A benefit will be held from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, for Sandra Blanchard-Laverdiere, who has been diagnosed with breast cancer. The event will take place at the American Legion Hall.

The cost is $5 a person at the door and children under 10, free. There will be food and a Chinese auction. Music will be provided by the Band Monster. For more information, call 369-0785.

Talent showcase

BERLIN, N.H. — St. Kieran Arts Center will open the new arts series at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 30, with the sixth annual North Country Talent Showcase and a new historic exhibition celebrating the Centennial of the Week’s Act.

The talent showcase will feature more than 60 local artists singing, dancing and making music. Tickets are $12 for adults, $6 for students, with all proceeds to benefit the Arts Center’s Program Fund.
