PORTLAND — Alan A. Beaulieu, 60, of Lewiston passed away in Portland on Jan. 25, after a short battle with lung cancer.
He was born May 18, 1950, a son of the late Edward and Doris (Thibault) Beaulieu.
Alan graduated from Edward Little in 1968, and attended USM, graduating in 1972. In June 1969, he married Rita Roberge, his childhood sweetheart. Alan played mens’ softball for many years on the Steer House and Fortin’s softball teams as well as for the L + A Twins hockey team in the early 1970s.
He enjoyed coaching many local sports and he will be remembered for coaching all his children through Little League and his son’s hockey teams. From 1990 through 1997, Alan coached the Lewiston High School Varsity Softball team and was also the assistant Varsity Hockey Coach for Edward Little for several years.
He loved sports, especially golfing with his friend Tony Lampron and also enjoyed traveling in his spare time.
Alan is survived by his wife of 41 years, Rita and their three children, Michelle Rouleau and her husband, Brian, Todd Beaulieu and Toni Svor and her husband, Jon; two granddaughters, Abby and Julia Svor; his brother, Steve Beaulieu; and many nieces and nephews.
