The Maine Renegades squirt hockey team won its two games in Tewksbury, Massachusetts this past weekend in Valley League action.

The first game of the day was a 4-3 win over Chelmsford. The Rens got out to a 2-0 lead in the first period on goals by Hunter Dupuis and and Casey Cloutier. Chelmsford tied the game in the second, but the Renegades reclaimed the lead with two quick goals in the third period by Ryan Blouin and Thomas Levasseur.

Connor Dupuis, Blouin, Reed Hopkins and Cam Niven had assists. Hard Hat player of the game went to Cloutier.

The second game of the day was a 3-2 victory over Andover. The Rens found themselves in a 2-0 hole in the first period before two quick goals by Niven and Hopkins early in the second period.

Derek Allen scored the game-winner midway through the third period. Andover put plenty of pressure on the Rens in the third, but goaltender Jacob Smith’s glove save with nine seconds remaining in the game preserved the victory. Assists went to Hopkins, Levasseur, and Andrew Verrault. Hard hat player of the game was Smith.

The Renegade squirts are off this upcoming weekend before they return to Valley League action. The Renegades organization will be having an open house during the month of February for players who may be interested in the program. Please check their website www.mainerenegades.com for more details.

Maranacook Peewees blank Bangor Red

Maranacook Black Bears Peewees picked up a 4-0 shutout win over Bangor Red at Kents Hill. Zack Godbout scored two goals, with one each by Brandon Coulombe and Matt Welch. Bailey Stockford, Joey Baumann, Nick Cerullo and Godbout picked up assists. Jack Vickerson notched the shutout in goal.

Central Maine Gold edged Maranacook, 3-2, in a game played at Sukee Arena in Winslow. Godbout and Matt Ingram scored for Maranacook, with Nick Bowie notching an assists. Dameron Roderigue and Samuel Haver each had a goal and an assist for Gold, with Logan Denis adding a goal. Jason St. Pierre was Maranacook’s netminder.
