AUGUSTA — Jeanne (Jane) Cote Charpentier, 89, of Lewiston and more recently at the Woodlands in Hallowell, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 26, with her loving daughter, Linda at her side following a brief illness at Maine General Medical Center.
She was born in Edmundston, New Brunswick, April 22, 1921, the daughter of the late Alexie and Delina (Bouchard) Cote.
Jane was employed at the Bates Mill in the packing room for 46 years. She was a lifetime parishioner of the Basilica of Saints Peter & Paul which is where she married the love of her life Laurent (Larry) Charpentier on June 10, 1946. They enjoyed spending weekends at the ocean and at their camp in Eustis.
Jane and Larry were married 34 years prior to his death on Feb. 23, 1981.
Jane loved buzzing around town, garage saling with her sister-in-law, Claire Cote, as well as spending time together at Old Orchard Beach.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda and her husband, Stephen McLaughlin, of Winthrop; her very special granddaughter, Kelly, who will miss her memere deeply and her husband, Eric Pepin, and their two daughters, Jane’s only great-grandchildren, Elliot and Emerson Pepin of Auburn; a very special niece, Pauline Lavoie and her husband, Rene, of Massachusetts; a dear sister-in-law, Dot Charpentier of Lewiston; and her dearest and oldest friend, Anita Longley and her husband, George, of Lewiston.
Oh the stories they would tell… They were both very “good scouts.”
Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her only brother, Lionel Cote; and her beloved sisters, Ora (Maxine) McDonald and Mary Gagnon.
