Americans seem to expect instant results, no matter how complex the problems being faced. In our hearts, we know that is seldom possible.

Certain groups of people appear to be personally offended when invitations are not extended or complied with. Maine’s new governor cannot please everyone. No one else can, either. He has higher priorities to deal with and resolve.

People need to get over it and move on.

Statements made by politicians may not be politically correct. Perhaps they need to be toned down a bit. But how can we criticize them for what we do ourselves? We are all role models.

None of us fully understands the reasons for the shooting spree in Arizona. However, the people there have chosen to take the high road. In spite of the heartache, the citizens are graciously embracing life and offering comfort to those in need.

The events in Tucson don’t make sense to any of us. Neither does all the nit-picking and bickering that goes on all around us.

What good does any of that do?

Let common sense prevail.
