AUBURN — Joshua Shea, editor and publisher of the new Lewiston/Auburn magazine, will describe the launch of that lifestyle magazine when he addresses the Auburn Art Club on Feb. 7. The meeting will take place at 2 p.m. in the United Methodist Church on Park Street.
Shea, born in Lewiston and a resident of Auburn, began his latest publishing venture in April 2010. He began his journalism career 18 years ago as a high school senior in the sports department of the Sun Journal. After working in various writing and editing capacities for six years, he moved to an editing position in Tokyo, Japan, with the Stars & Stripes newspaper.
Back in this area, he has been publisher at Independent Publishing Group, covering the Windham and New Gloucester areas. Seeing a void in the city lifestyle market in Androscoggin County, Shea developed the new magazine. He says both advertising sales and subscriptions have exceeded expectations in this initial year.
Chairwoman of the Feb. 7 meeting is Jan Marston, assisted by Ellie Brockway, Dorothy Prince and Jill Jones, all of Auburn. The Auburn Art Club is composed of 50 women who support and encourage all the arts. Bonnie Ross is president.
