AUGUSTA — Sebastian “Fred” Sirois, 90, a resident of Old Lewiston Road, North Monmouth, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, at MaineGeneral Medical Center.

He was born April 10, 1920, in Madison, the son of Jesse J. and Exzilda M. (Bourque) Sirois. He attended the Madison schools and graduated from Madison High School in 1940. He was in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving as a master sergeant.

On May 15, 1946, in Madison, he married Genevieve Leone Albert. Mrs. Sirois passed away in May 1998. He managed several shoe stores throughout the state of Maine.

He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church in Winthrop and was also a member of VFW Post 1603 in Auburn. Fred was a man who loved to be very active outdoors working on his lawn and tending his gardens.

He was known as the “gentlemen” that road on his bike everywhere with his little dog “Angel” in a basket. He loved being with his family and had so many wonderful friends who shared his life.

He is survived by his son, James A. Sirois of Farmingdale; two daughters, Suzanne R.M. Langlais and her husband, Reginald, of Saco and Mary Mel Bryant of Verona Island; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his son, Jesse M. Sirois in 2004; his sister, Velma Goodchild; and his son-in-law, Randall Bryant in 2005.
