AUBURN — Lena A. Aube, 90, of 19 Ipswich St., Auburn, died Wednesday morning, Feb. 2, at her son’s home with family at her side.

She was born in Van Buren on Nov. 23,1920, a daughter of Pierre and Laura (Caron) Michaud. She was educated in local schools and remained a lifelong resident of this community.

On May 24, 1941, Lena married Alphonse Aube, who predeceased her in 1980. Following her marriage, Mrs. Aube first worked as a homemaker as she and her husband raised their family and some years later she went to work for several years at Koss Shoe and Falcon Shoe until her retirement.

She was a member of St. Louis Church and New Auburn Senior Citizens. Among her favorite enjoyments were playing bingo and traveling, as she even travelled across the country several times with her daughter Theresa and son-in-law Edward Houde. She also spent 18 years wintering in Florida. She was a loving, devoted and hard-working wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed.

She leaves her three children, Rena Bourgoin and her partner, Joyce Danforth, of Litchfield, Roger Aube and his wife, Cecile, of Auburn, and Rick Aube and his wife, Debora, also of Auburn; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; her sister, Dorothy Bolduc, of Lewiston; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank all staff of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice for their compassion and care shown to Lena and the family and especially to Debbie Aube, who was Lena’s primary caregiver around the clock for the past eighteen months, enabling Lena to be cared for and spend her final months, weeks and days at home.
