LEWISTON — The University of Southern Maine’s Lewiston-Auburn College announces that Patricia Hager has been hired as the new writing center coordinator.
Hager holds a bachelor of arts degree in literature from Richard Stockton College and the master of fine arts degree in creative nonfiction from the University of Southern Maine. She was associated with the writing workshop at Bates College from 2003 until 2010, serving as interim director.
Hager has taught courses that explore the role of narrative in civic discourse and how stories can combine with research to influence social change. She has also facilitated various writing workshops such as “From Pedagogy to Reading the Riot Act: Techniques that Work in the Battle Against Plagiarism” and “Wine Tasting as a Metaphor — Finding the Best Ways to Respond to Student Papers.”
The writing center at USM LAC is a free resource for all students. Staffed by peer student tutors and the coordinator, it assists with writing assignments, thought organization, critical thinking skills and grammar help.
