Fair meeting

WATERFORD — The Waterford World’s Fair will meet at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13, at the Waterford Town Office building, Plummer Hill Road. Everyone is welcome. The Fair is always looking for more members.

Valentine workshop

BRIDGTON — A “Make Your Own Valentine” workshop will be presented by the Bridgton Art Guild from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12. All ages are welcome.

Art materials will be provided by the guild for the free workshop. Local art teachers will be there to help.

VFW breakfast

HARRISON — VFW Post 9328, Waterford Road, will host the monthly breakfast from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 13. The menu includes scrambled eggs, french toast, pancakes, sausage, bacon, country gravy and biscuits, fresh fruit, coffee, tea. hot cocoa and OJ. Donations will be accepted.

AARP to meet

PARIS — The Oxford Hills Chapter, AARP, will meet Monday, Feb. 14, at the First Congregational Church, East Main Street, South Paris.

The noon lunch will consist of a maple-glazed pork chop dinner with a Valentine surprise for dessert. The cost is $6.50, and reservations are required by calling Ruth at 744-9069 by noon Friday, Feb. 11.

The meeting will begin at 1 p.m., after which Jean Hankins will give a talk on “Dower Laws,” concerning the rights of widows in the 1800s.

Democrats to plan

BETHEL — The Oxford County Democrats will hold a potluck lunch and planning meeting at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13, at the Crescent Park School, Crescent Lane. Those attending are asked to bring something to share for lunch.

The meeting will include reports on the recent Democratic State Committee elections, as well as the formation of several working subcommittees concerning the operation of the Oxford County Democrats.

Updates will be presented by elected officials at the legislative and county levels. County Chairwoman Cathy Newell will outline plans for working with Organizing for America on activities throughout the spring.

A date will be selected for the Oxford County Democrats field trip to the State House. Anyone interested in taking an active role in electing Democrats in 2012 is invited to attend.

After school

PARIS — On February Mondays at 4 p.m., the After School Program at the Paris Public Children’s Library will focus on heartfelt stories about loving relationships, followed by self- directed and/or directed activities and crafts. All ages are welcome, including adults.

Feb. 14 will be “Lost and Found” by Oliver Jeffers and Feb. 28, “The Small One” by Alex Walsh, illustrated by Jesse Clay.

Bridge play

OXFORD — The Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge Club met Feb. 4 in the Recreation Building, King Street.

Finishing first in flight A were Priscilla Rooth and Hazel Glazier, who also were first in flight B; second, Rosemarie Goodwin and Luke Merry; third, Dick Allen and Pete Cummings. Second in flight B were Hank Sakrison and Denny Raymond; third, Milton McKeen and Jim Krainin.

There will be a game at 9:15 a.m. Friday, Feb. 11,  same place. All bridge players are invited, and a partner is guaranteed. The game is cancelled if the Oxford Hills School District has no school.
