Although no meeting of the Lewiston and Auburn Merchants’ Association was held last evening as a quorum was not present, it was announced that the Auburn members have prepared their resignations. NEW GLOUCESTER — The United Society of Shakers has announced the award of a grant by the Maine Humanities Council in support of an exhibit of historic photographs.

Titled “In Time and Eternity,” the exhibit will attempt to portray life in the two Maine Shaker villages at Sabbathday Lake and Alfred between 1865 and 1915. This neglected period of Shaker history was captured on film for posterity by many community and commercial photographers.
