PORTLAND — The Audio Visual Imagineering Laser System will once again bring constellation stories depicted entirely in laser animation to the Southworth Planetarium.

The two constellation show titles are “Laser Orion” and “Laser Perseus and Andromeda,” which include a music laser show at the end.

Music programs to be shown during February school vacation week, Feb. 19-27, include “Laser Beatles,” “Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon,” “U2,” “Hypnotica” and more.

Each program includes a seven-minute short, titled “Paradigm Shift,” a show about ancient mythology and modern astronomy.

Based in Orlando, Audio Visual Imagineering sends its full-dome laser system to planetariums all over the country.

Tickets are $5 per person (child or adult) per program. Reservations are recommended, but not required. For tickets or more information, call 780-4249. For a complete schedule of laser shows, visit usm.maine.edu/planet/. The planetarium is in the science building on the university campus.
