TOPSHAM — Sophomore guard Ashlee Arnold scored a game-high 22 points to power Edward Little to a 51-34 victory over Mt. Ararat in KVAC girls’ basketball action Tuesday.

The Red Eddies (14-3) came out steamming hot, scoring 21 points in the first quarter for an eight-point lead.

Edward Little continued to build its advantage as it took a 34-20 margin into intermission.

Amber Bowley and Mallory Nelson provided the Eagles (8-9) with eight points each in the losing effort.

Greely 28, Gray-NG 24

GRAY — Senior guard Megan Coale tossed in a team-leading seven points as Greely edged Gray-New Gloucester 28-24 in WMC girls’ basketball action Tuesday.

The first half saw light scoring as the squads were tied 10-10 at the break.

The Rangers (14-3) went on a 6-0 run to start the second half.

The Patriots (10-7) got as close as three points in the final frame, but Caroline Hamilton made one of two free throws to secure the game for Greely.

Sophomore Haylee Cote notched a game-high 10 points for the Patriots on four field goals, including two from 3-point range.

Leavitt 62, Maranacook 34

READFIELD — Junior forward Adrianna Newton recorded a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds to pilot Leavitt to a 62-34 victory over Maranacook in KVAC girls’ basketball action Tuesday.

The Hornets (17-0) stung early, scoring 22 points in the first quarter and taking a 33-8 lead at the half. Senior point guard Courtney Anderson also posted 17 points for Leavitt.

Junior guard Kristin Kelly tossed in five field goals, all from beyond the arc, to collect 15 points for the Black Bears (5-12).

Valley 60, Rangeley 54

BINGHAM — Valley used a 24-19 run in the fourth quarter to pull away 60-54 win over Rangeley in WMC girls’ basketball action Tuesday.

Cindy Schultz put in an amazing performance to lead Valley (10-6), scoring 36 points, making seven assists and six steals. Schultz was the only Valley athlete in double figures.

The Lakers (13-3) were paced by Chantal Carrier with an impressive 28-point effort, while Jenny Abbott chipped in with 11.

Freeport 51, Poland 35

FREEPORT — Freeport used a 13-9 run in the fourth quarter to pull away for a 51-35 victory over Poland in WMC girls’ basketball action Tuesday.

Senior Forward Erin Hall led Freeport with nine points, while Morgan Brown also contributed with six points and 12 rebounds.

The Knights (2-15) were paced by Emily Bolduc with a solid 11-point effort, adding seven rebounds, seven steals and five assists to a well-rounded game.

Oxford Hills 66, Lewiston 27

PARIS — Dayna Schultz scored 13 points and teammate Abbie Eastman added another 12, including three 3-pointers, as Oxford Hills rolled to a 66-27 victory over winless Lewiston (0-17) in a girls’ basketball game Tuesday night.

The Vikings didn’t waste any time taking command, jumping out to 34-13 lead by halftime and cruised the rest of the way.

Oxford Hills held Lewiston to single-digit scoring all night.

For Lewiston, Kelsey Dumond and Brie Wilson scored six points each.

Bangor 61, Mt. Blue 57

FARMINGTON — Hillary Throckmorton led a consistent effort for Bangor with 24 points while Brianna McKenna and Kate Treadwell chipped in with nine apiece to lead Bangor past Mt. Blue 61-57 in KVAC girls’ basketball action.

Gillian Perron led the Cougars (4-13) with 15 points and 14 rebounds, Amy Hilton added 14 points, including a trey and six assists, and Jaycee Mullen hit 11 free throws and totaled 13 points while hauling down 10 rebounds.
