RUMFORD — Joan L. Wiggett, 67, of Mexico, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, at the Rumford Hospital.

She was born in Huntington Park, Calif., June 27, 1943, a daughter of George and Leah (Brooks) Wendler. Joan attended and graduated from high school in Los Angeles, Calif., and received her teaching degree from the University of Maine at Farmington. She was an elementary school teacher and taught in Mexico, Dixfield, Peru and Rumford schools.

She was married in Albuquerque, N.M., March 5, 1970, to M/Sgt. Kyle O. Wiggett, USAF (retired), who died in Rumford on Sept. 10, 1985.

Survivors include her son, Brent Wiggett and wife, Julie, of Clovis, N.M.; a daughter, Lisa Belanger of Lewiston; grandchildren, Stetson Ashpaugh of Elk City, Okla., Chase, Rance and Bret Burrus of Clovis, N.M., and David and Matthew Sisk of South Carolina; great-grandchildren, Blayne and Hunter Ashpaugh of Elk City, Okla.; and a brother, Mike Wendler of Texas.
