MANCHESTER (AP) — A 47-year-old Maine man is facing numerous charges after he pulled a knife on an off-duty Maine State Police trooper whose car he just hit while driving in the wrong lane.

Police say Jerry Larravee was taken into custody Monday after being wrestled to the ground by off-duty trooper Jon Leach in Manchester.

Police say Leach’s vehicle was hit by Larravee who was traveling north in the southbound lane

Leach followed the other vehicle and then, after identifying himself as a trooper, confronted Larravee, who pulled a knife. Police say Leach disarmed Larravee before he was able to unfold the blade.

Leach was treated for minor injuries.

The Kennebec Journal says Larravee was being held at the Kennebec County jail.
