WILTON — Local singer/songwriter Phil Poirier will perform in town on Friday, Feb. 11.

The concert  begins at 7 p.m. at the Baker’s Market Cafe, 285 Main St. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be available.

Poirier’s all-original music has been described as contemporary folk with a touch of the blues. His new CD, “In the Morning,” was recorded at Outlook Studio in Bethel and has guitar and drum backup work by Pat Malia, and bass by Ted St. Pierre.

“Phil’s songs are melodic and catchy, with an honesty in lyric and harmony that pulls you in,” Conni St. Pierre of the Smasheasy label, which produced the CD, said. “The stripped-down production of ‘In the Morning’ lets the songs shine through, with multiple hooks and a purity of emotion, sometimes with wry irony, sometimes from the heart. It sticks with you. You’ll be singing these songs later,” she said.

This performance is the first in a series called Sing to ME in Wilton, ME, occasional concerts to highlight and support local performers.

Admission is by donation with all proceeds going to the performer. For more information, call 779-9026.
