FARMINGTON — An open house will be held from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16, to view the newly rehabilitated mobile home unit at the 82 High St. Community.

The unit has become a highly energy efficient home that will give warmth and comfort to its new family while reducing the overall energy costs.

82 High St. is a neighborhood of homes located on High Street, not far from the center of downtown Farmington. There are 30 homes in the neighborhood: 13 one- and two-bedroom apartments located in three buildings and 17 two- and three-bedroom mobile homes. A home is in lease-purchase plan, three are owner-occupied and 13 are leased from the corporation.

The mission of 82 High St. is to provide affordable homes and a safe neighborhood for low income and moderate income individuals and families.

It is owned and operated by a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit corporation made up of a 17-member board of trustees. Since 2009 the neighborhood has been managed by a local management company, Mission Management.

The residents, the board of trustees and the town of Farmington, in consultation with Western Maine Community Action, are engaged in a multi-year renewal program of the neighborhood. The first phase of the renewal program is an energy-efficient rehabilitation of all the mobiles homes.
