PARSONSFIELD (AP) — Authorities say a fire has swept through a house in southern Maine, killing one person.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office says the blaze in Parsonsfield was reported just after 4 p.m., and firefighters discovered the body inside the house shortly after they arrived. The body hasn’t been identified.

Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland says an elderly man owns the house but hasn’t been accounted for.

There’s no word on what caused the fire.
