HARRISON — Two people were injured, one seriously, in a two-car accident on Route 117 late Monday afternoon.
Maine State Police Trooper Adam Fillebrown said a car driven by David Freitas of Oxford and one driven by David Trask of Norway collided at the intersection with Plains Road. The impact pushed Trask’s Chevrolet Metro into the guardrail next to Crooked River.
Riding with Freitas was his wife, Karen.
Fillebrown said Trask was attempting to turn left from Route 117 onto Plains Road when he apparently didn’t see Freitas’ Nissan Altima sedan coming toward him. Witnesses said the setting sun can be blinding on that stretch of Route 117, he said.
Trask was taken to Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway by Oxford Rescue, Fillebrown said. He was later moved Maine Medical Center in Portland, a spokesman at the Norway hospital said.
Karen Freitas was treated at SMH and released.
