Twenty Sun and Journal newsboys and one girl newspaper carrier returned about 10 p.m. yesterday from a day spent at Boston during which they attended a performance of the Ice Follies at Boston Gardens.

The carriers earned the trip through new subscriptions obtained on their routes.

The newsies took many pictures of the Follies. They were accompanied by Roger N. Forgues and Normand L. Marcoux of the Sun-Journal circulation department.

RUMFORD — Seven cars derailed Friday afternoon just as the 37-car Maine Central Train was pulling out of the yard at Boise Cascade and onto the main tracks, according to Bradley Peters, Maine Central spokesman.

The seven cars, all upright but not on the tracks, were not damaged in the 3:10 p.m. accident. Four cars contained paper and three were empty, Peters said. He said a crew from Waterville would be at the Smith Crossing site Saturday morning to fix the damaged track and place the derailed cars back on the tracks.
