FARMINGTON — Margaret “Peggy” Moorhead Dawes, 88, of Farmington died Monday, Feb. 21, in Farmington.

She was born on May 23, 1922, the daughter of the late Patrick Moorhead and Felecia (Feerick) Moorhead. Peggy graduated from Newton Mass. High School and went to work for the Lewis Shepard Co. She married Wilfred Dawes on Nov. 24, 1948. She had two sons, Robert Dawes and his wife, Lucy, of Milford and Dennis and his wife, Kim, of Belgrade.

When her husband obtained a job as personnel manager at Forster Manufacturing Co. they moved to Farmington in 1968, making Farmington her permanent home.

In February 1968, she started work at The Kyes Agency, Inc. She was a true professional and was dedicated to her work. Her work ethic was incredible. She gained much respect in the insurance world as an outstanding business woman. She retired in 2002, but continued to work part time until 2005. Peggy was an active member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and Alter Guild in Farmington.

Peggy is survived by her two sons; four grandchildren, Eric Dawes, Jennifer Gomm and husband, Lance, Ryan Dawes and Kevin Dawes; and her great-granddaughter, Mykayla.

She was predeceased by her husband; and two younger sisters, Barbara Ventre of Plymouth, Mass., and Mary Davis of Uxbridge, Mass.
